It’s March and I can’t remember what New Year’s Resolutions I set myself. Is that because they were unrealistic? Or did I not even set myself many after failing year after year? Maybe a bit of both.
As a result, I’m embarking on a new thing – New Month’s Resolutions. I’m going to review how my last month has gone, find out what went well and what went not so well and make a pledge to keep doing the good and cut out the bad.

So, here are March’s New Month Resolutions:
1. Keep up to date with my blog and business
At the very end of January, I published my Instagram and Blog posts publicly, showcasing my new crafts. Throughout February, I have enjoyed keeping on top of my social media for my new venture, learning lots about how to engage with customers and of course painting the actual pots (especially when it’s a customers design!).
So for March, it’s my aim to keep as enthusiastic and up to date with what I’m doing! As a third year student, I do have deadlines approaching so I need to dedicate my time wisely to everything I enjoy and needs doing. But I aim to use my time effectively and do everything that makes me happy.
2. Read one book
Every year I say to myself, “I’m going to read four thousand books this year”… not quite but that’s what it feels like I promise myself. And every year, I read about 6 max. So my goal for this month is to finish the book I’ve been reading.
Why do we continue to torment ourselves with resolutions about reading? I know full well that I get too busy to read every night before bed, so I shouldn’t put myself through feeling bad if I don’t finish my unrealistically set aim of reading 20 books a year.
I am a fast reader and I love a good book but sometimes life gets in the way and that’s fine.
3. Learn more about things I like
As I’ve started to engage with customers and create a craft business, I’ve read around a bit on how to best market my product, how to create a brand blog and all sorts. It’s been enjoyable to learn these things and I want to continue to explore this futher.
At the same time, I’m learning how to create different designs on my pots and I’m really having fun with it. So, this month I should spend my free time doing the things I love, and at the minute that’s learning new things.
4. Go to the gym at least once a week
I’ve always been an active person, but never been consistent with my exercising. In the last 7 or 8 months, I’ve finally plucked up the courage (helped by Nathan who I can’t thank enough) to go to the gym and use pretty much everything it offers.
But, with lectures, deadlines, painting pots and all other life stuff, I’m finding it hard to go two or three times a week. So, for March I’m not going to get annoyed if I don’t get to the gym a lot every week. I’m setting a goal of once a week, that way if I go any more than once I’ll be really happy but if I only go once I’ll feel good rather than being annoyed at myself.
So, these are 4 things I hope to achieve this month. Hopefully I won’t lose sight of them and can stick to them better than year long resolutions.
See you on the next post,
Maddie
