A few weeks ago I spent a week in Lake Orta, Italy, with my family. We stayed in a spacious villa that overlooked the lake, and quite honestly it was the most beautiful place I have ever been. Whether we were walking around the small town, driving around the lake or even swimming in it, the views were stunning. It made me want more from life, more than just living somewhere that I felt comfortable instead of seeing the rest of the world.
The weather wasn’t great the first few days, with huge storms taking place for most of the day. But when it’s 11pm and pitch black, there is something truly remarkable about a lightning bolt being able to light up the entire lake. So I wasn’t too bothered about the rain when I was in such a breathtaking place. The sun did show up for 5 out of 8 days though, which I was pleased about.
Not only was the lake itself stunning, the cobbled streets and square in the town were very pretty. We would spend most mornings sitting in the square drinking coffee and deciding what to do that day, which we usually settled upon reading and swimming – when the weather was nice of course. I’m not someone that needs to always needs to be doing something when I’m on holiday, a little bit of exploring and relaxing is all I need!
I have travelled a lot already with my parents, but this trip has really made me want to travel to more beautiful places like this. This holiday was the first time I had flown without my parents so now that I have accomplished that, I feel like I could probably explore the world a bit more on my own in the future. So, hopefully I can get some exciting trips planned and really discover what the world has to offer.
I just need to remember that the only thing stopping me is myself, and probably my bank account, but I will do it.
